The recipe of the Grain Pie: typical Easter cake

-500 grams of cooked grain

-300 grams of milk;

-1 envelope of cinnamon;

-1 vial of orange essence;

-500 grams of ricotta;

-500 grams of sugar;

-5 entire eggs;

-60 grams candied peel.



Pour the grain in a pot adding the 300g of milk, boil it at a slow flame mixing it until it becomes creamy. Cool it off and then adding 500 grams of ricotta, 500 grams of sugare, 5 eggs, 1 vial of orange essence and 1 envelope od cinnamon and candied peel.

Crust for the grain pie
Combine 200 grams of melted butter, 250 grams of sugar, 3 eggs, a grated orange, one envelope of baking powder. Finally, add 500 grams of flour. Butter a baking pan, spread out the mixture all the way to the edges of the pan leaving on the side some of the mixture for the strips on top.

Pour in the baking pan, cover it with the strips of dough and bake it in a pre-heated oven at 150° for more than an hour. Let it dry out and coll in the open oven. To sprinkle of icing sugar and to serve.
